ERROR 404 FILE OR DIRECTORY NOT FOUND

We have a silverlight app that was built using the Silverlight viewer with a few custom addins. I just moved the website to a new server on Amazon EC2 running ArcGIS 10.1. SP1 and now we get the error- 404 File or directory not found. I would appreciate any help I can get from this forum.

A 404 error means that the web page you are trying to hit does not exist. are you sure the URL you are using is correct.

Yes, the URL is correct. When I invoke the browse from the IIS manager I get an error page that says:

HTTP Error 404.2 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the ISAPI and CGI Restriction list settings on the Web server.

Can you ensure that you have met the system requirement for Windows Server 2008 R2 ? Please reboot your machine after making any changes.

I am not to sure how much control you have over the amazon server but it sounds like it is not configured to serve the correct mime types, have a look here:

Let me give you more background information. I currently have this app running in production on another Amazon EC2 instance that is running ArcGIS 10.0 SP2. This current instance is a staging server that will replace the one in production- this instance is running AGS10.1 SP1. The silverlight app was running at some point. I dont know if it stopped running after I applied SP1 or after I tried to implement token security, which I have backed out the settings completely. I reset the services to be wide-open to public users just so I could troubleshoot this issue.

However, I will check the mimes once again, and the configuration as Phoebe as suggested.

I check both the mime types and the configurations for windows server 2008 R2. Everything seems to be included as needed. Someone from ESRI will be calling me this afternoon to help with the issue. Hopefully we can get this resolved. I will keep the forum updated.

From this error message you posted:

HTTP Error 404.2 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the ISAPI and CGI Restriction list settings on the Web server.

Make sure that .NET is allowed on the server. In IIS Manager, click the top server node and on the right side double click ISAPI and CGI Restrictions. Make sure .NET is allowed.

I figured out the issue... our security team disabled the IIS default page. I just had to enable the page and all issues got resolved.
