Export Data as a XML file

Hi, I need some help, the information on this site is too confusing, nobody explains EXACTLY what you need to do.. so here is my question:
I need a tool or edit de 'Export Data' tool, cause I need to get the atributes table, not the datagrid info. How can I do that? Please step by step.

My apologies but it is difficult to understand exactly what you want to do.

From an ArcGIS Session open the attribute table.

From the drop down menu select export and export it as a text file.

open the text file in Excel and convert it to XML

Sorry, let me try to explain more clearly:
I have an application developed with the Viewer, then the user follow these steps:
1. Select a Layer
2. Click in Attribute Table
3. Select a register
4. Click in Export Data

You can save as a CSV and text files, right? But I need to put these information in a XLS file, if I try to save like that: <name>.xls they show a message like is corrompted or something.
I need to set the information so each field be allocated in a field of the spreadsheet. Please help me, I have little experience with the API and everything, there's some easy way to do that?
