Link Widget 3.3 - link opens a new page automatically

How do I stop the widget from opening a new web page automatically? It opens another page immediately after opening the Flex page. This is the config:
<configuration>
<linkurl>http://ngnya0-gis-02.ng.ds.army.mil/flexviewers/Floor_Plans/</linkurl>
</configuration>

I am using AppBuilder, added the widget, inserted the url. Does this widget need to referenced in the main config.xml?

Do you have the widget set to "open at start" in App Builder?
