      <title>Complex symbology</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Still plugging away and having fun learning the flex viewer.&amp;nbsp; Thanks for all the help so far from the group, especially Robert!&amp;nbsp; Anyway, the question is about complex symbology.&amp;nbsp; I have some feature layers being served out.&amp;nbsp; In the mxd, these layers use complex symbology (though nothing real serious)&amp;nbsp; Basically using the "expressway symbol" anD another one that I made (green dash on a white background.)&amp;nbsp; Looks pretty good on the mxd, but on the flex site it is just a simple solid symbol (yellow line and white line respectively).&amp;nbsp; I thought that the symbolization from the mxd would be carried forward to the flex site.       <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;James,&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; There are several things that impact what you see in Flex.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Did you use a MSD when you published?&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;LI&gt;What is the version and service pack number or your ArcGIS Server?&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Are you adding it to the Viewer as a layer with type="feature"?&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Original User: rscheitlin&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;James,&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;LI&gt; Get away from publishing MXD and use the Map Service Publishing toolbar in ArcMap and make MSDs.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;LI&gt;ArcGIS Server is now at Service Pack 4 (which I highly recommend).&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Type Feature does not have the ability to handle Composite symbology like you are talkign about. As Michael mentioned it will work fine as a dynamic type.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Don't forget to &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;click the Mark as answer check&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; on this post and to &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;click the top arrow (promote)&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; as shown below:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;IMG src="http://gis.calhouncounty.org/FlexViewer2.5/Answer.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
