Poor image quality in initial extent

When my viewer first loads, its set to an initial extent of our county. The problem I'm having is that the image quality of this entire county view is horrible. There is a lot of pixelation and zags in the polylines...nothing is smooth.

I have included 2 screenshots attached to this post, if anyone could tell me how to make the image quality better it would be much appreciated.

Hi Paul,

It looks as though you've got a tile cache at a level that doesn't match with your initial extent. Try creating tile cache levels that more match your extents.

Another possibility could be the quality of the tiles you are creating. What are your tile cache settings?

To be honest I haven't gotten into the caching at all...I know i should because it will greatly improve the viewers performance. Right now this is how I call my service into the viewer:

<layer label="Parcel Viewer" type="dynamic" visible="true" alpha="1.0"
                   url="http://maps-lv2/ArcGIS/rest/services/ParcelFLEX2/MapServer">

Is the caching of the tiles something you set up in ArcGIS Service Manager?

Are you publishing a MSD or are you still using a MXD?

Paul,

Publish the map service again in ArcMap using the Map Service publishing toolbar and create a MSD for the map service.

Do you know of anything you can do in the code to make the print quality better? When I print a map now its very blurry and pixelated. I am messing with my printer settings but nothing seems to be helping it. Thanks again
