Flash Builder Design Mode - can't see components

Nevermind. I just saw a thread that this is a known limitation with the current API. Sure would like it do get fixed though.

Is there a reason why I cannot see components in Design Mode? It is blank.
I am trying too look at the components in the SearchWidget.mxml file.

This can't possibly be a limitation of Flex Builder can it? I was having no problem until I got a new computer and installed the latest Flex Builder and imported my project. Now I have no design mode for the project. I do get design mode if I create a new project. Has anyone else seen this issue? I need help!

This was only a limitation in the Beta version. Do you have any errors listed in the problems window?

I am having this problem. In fact I have never been able to get Design Mode to work. Until now, I have been satisfied in the fact that I have been learning more because I am forced to work with only source mode.

I am getting errors and warnings in the Problems Window every time I attempt to open anything in Design. I will take a screen shot and post it. In this case, I hit the Design button while looking at the SelectionResults.mxml of the Selection Widget.

I currently have version 4.0.0 of Flex Builder.

Adam,

Make sure your projects "Additional compiler arguments:" are EXACTLY this:

-locale en_US -source-path=locale/{locale} -keep-all-type-selectors=true

Yep - that did it. I can open the Design View, but I still have the same warnings. No Errors though.

Adam,

If you read the warnings they will tell you exactly what the issues are. You are using SWCs that were developed for a different sdk version.

I have the same problem, except that also appears if i create new projects. The solution given did not fixed the blank page in design mode. Design mode was working fine until recently.

If you stay up to date with Adobe news you will realize that design view is already slated to removal from Flash Builder, and then you will realize that the fact that you can not get it working is actually preparing you for the inevitable future.

Adobe plans to maintain support for Flex projects in updates to Flash Builder 4.x, including additional work to ensure Apache Flex based SDKs can work within Flash Builder. Adobe will evaluate integrating an Apache-derived Falcon MXML compiler into Flash Builder if and when a suitable compiler is available from the open-source project. In order to better support future Apache-derived Flex SDKs, Design View, Data Centric Development tools, and Flash Catalyst workflows will be removed in updated 4.x versions of Flash Builder.
