Terminal Configuration and Flow Direction

Hi Team,

Currently we are migrating a data from GTech to Esri UN . We are getting a millions of errors for terminal paths and Flow Direction .

When I checked the terminal configuration assignments only below asset groups have the different terminal paths

So is it good to bulk update the terminal path as "All" for all the devices

Similarly for ElectricLine , Since the Flow direction is network attribute all the line features have the dirty areas . If we are not sure about the Flow Direction what would be the value which can be updated?

You should set the TerminalConfiguration field to be Default, not All. This is the preferred default value. This is important when the device has more than two terminals, since you only want the default valid paths to be used.

Similarly, you should default the FlowDirection field to the default value of "With Digitized". These are the default values expected by the utility network, but when you build a data migration you need to make sure you are providing the appropriate default values for the migrated data for both system and non-system fields.

One important thing, if you are using non-spatial connected content for units, then the terminal path should be set to None.

I got another doubt in my mind . If we populate the Terminal Configuration with default , then do we need to do any changes in the connectivity rules part ?

Let Consider the Overhead Three Phase MV->LV Transformer , Currently the rules are driven by the terminals , so when we update the terminal configuration as default ,do we have to remove these terminal configurations and have a rules without configuring from terminals? @MikeMillerGIS

No, the 'terminal configuration' field on the feature refers to the path between the terminals that will be used when the device is traced, not the terminal configuration assigned to the asset type of the feature. Rules are not affected.

Rules only reflect to what terminal of a terminal configuration items can be connected. Terminal Configuration/Path field is the paths that are defined in a terminal configuration that the feature is currently using.
