Although we all can use preconfigured Asset Packages to get UN instances up and running quickly... like you, I also recommend that those who really want to learn about the details of the UN go through the exercise of the article you quoted. Once familiar with all those concepts and their intertwined relationships, this in-depth knowledge empowers anyone to apply a given AP understanding what goes into the resulting UN instance.
