Unexpected Trace results when tracing upstream and downstream in Electric Utility Network

Hi Team,

Hoping someone has come across this and may be able to help.

I have a substation with 33kV and 11kV lines. When I run an upstream trace I notice that it has not selected the elements encircled in green.

When I trace downstream it works as expected.

What am I missing?

What version of ArcGIS Enterprise? There were some issues I recall with how tracing evaluated all paths. Also, not sure how and where the controllers are.

Hi Mike,

We are on Enterprise 11.1.

The switches highlighted are subnetwork controllers for the high voltage tier (red lines).

The subnetwork controllers for the subtransmission tier are out of the picture.

My only guess is there may be indetermiate flow on the bus work and that is why is it not making it to the other transformer. If you put a trace flag on the bus work, maybe in the middle, what does upstream do?

@MikeMillerGIS - It's the same as before.
Expected result is that the green path drawn below should be highlighted as well.

When I do a connected trace it selects both paths (which I think is to be expected)

Same result when I do a downstream trace it correctly selects both the sections.

Based on what I am seeing there doesn't appear to be a problem with subnetworks or the connectivity. Could it be the topology - mesh or radial that could be the issue?
But my understanding is that attribute should have no effect on the trace.
