formatting HTML Table in Note Field

Is it possible to dictate the width of columns within an HTML table used in a note field in a survey? I can use concealed text to somewhat force a minimum width, but if it breaks to a new line all bets are off because the breakpoint is unpredictable and inconsistent.

I think non-breaking spaces are supported: &nbsp

That can simulate width within a note.

Without more context, that's the best I have right now. If you could include screen shots, that may help with other options.
