Required question keeps resetting to not required

I have a survey123 form with a required question (Single Select Grid). When I select the required question option, red asterisks appear, correctly indicating that the question is required. However, when I save and publish the survey, the question reverts to being not required, the red asterisks disappear, and the question can be skipped. Other required questions (ttext entries) behave normally.

I have tried copying the question, copying the survey, deleting the original question and creating a new question, creating a new survey with the same question. In all cases, I am experiencing the same behavior.

Have you updated the survey on your device?

Yes. I also created new surveys with the same type of question (single select grid) so cookies aren't an issue, and I had the same issue.

I had the same issue, and after chatting with Esri Tech Support it has been identified as a bug. As a workaround (until the bug is addressed), you can publish your survey from Survey123 Connect and the question requirement will be retained.

Updates have been made to the following defect which you are associated with:
BUG-000174906 - Specifying a Single Select Grid question as required is not retained after saving or publishing.
