Why is 'selected' not supported?

From the Help guide:

${if multiple_choice1 | selected:"A"} displays the section only if the multiple choice question has had the choice 'A' selected.

== is equivalent to selected

${if issue_frequency == ”regularly_after_rain”} ${/}
