Dropdown Default

I have a drop down in a survey and I want to set one of the values as a default when the survey opens first.

Hi John,

You can do this by supplying the name of the choice you want to be default in the 'default' column in an XLSForm.

Thanks for the reply James.

If I wanted to change the default periodically I will need re-publish the survey.

Just wondering if this will overwrite any data I have captured already?

Hi John,

Yes, changing the default will require republishing. So long as questions are not added or question types changed, the survey data will not be overwritten.

I tried this out and thankfully the data was not overwritten.
