Single Choice or Dropdown Fields Always Converted to String Variables?

I want to add a Survey123 field that is numeric, but with fixed choices (say, any one of five integer values). I tried doing this via a dropdown field, but it is then interpreted in ArcGIS Online as a string variable, and thus cannot be styled correctly. (And I can't find a way to convert a string field to an integer field—looked here.)

If anyone has a recommendation on how to enter a fixed-choice numeric field in Survey123 that will be interpreted correctly as a numeric feature layer in ArcGIS, I'd sure appreciate.

Regards,

Jim Proctor
