Verify Barcode scan

Is there a way to verify if the user scanned a barcode rather than manually inputs a value?

We have barcodes on our assets that contain the id value that is scanned (ie. 50006). For QC auditing, we would like to know if there a way to capture that the barcode was scanned or that the id was manually input. Ideally i dont want to add fields asking if the barcode was scanned or not, i am hoping there is some data that can be grabbed similar to using pulldata for EXIF and/or geopoint data.

Hi Gary,

This is not directly possible on a barcode question. I've filed this as a possible enhancement to research in the future.

As a workaround, you could use a barcode with minimal appearance and a "if you can't scan" text input, using the coalesce() function to combine them into a unified text question for use later in the survey - that would give you verification of the method of input.
