unable to update existing FC attributes

I have created a survey on top of an existing feature class, however instead of updating fields in the existing feature it creates new point locations.

we are using html links to pass on data collection from Explorer for GIS and complete the data entry with survey123. The idea being able to select a point in Explorer pass through to survey123 and finish the data collection process.

i have read through many of the questions and still can not locate the issue, any suggestions?

Hi - The ability to open the inbox and edit features via a custom URL is not yet supported in the app.

We do have an enhancement request open for this and will add your request to it.

I was thinking more of how survey123 can be used to update lines and polygon fields using the html links.

The point FC was not created in survey123 so I am unable to view anything in the inbox since no surveys.
