idea pan to area of interest in sidecar map in ArcGIS StoryMaps Ideas

I would like to suggest the ability to pan to an area of interest in a StoryMap sidecar map rather than zooming into a location. I find that the current setup makes my StoryMap look very clunky. This functionality would be similar to what can be achieved by using a map action and path to create a tour. We usually call it map choreography, and it can also be accomplished using a sidecar.

Please read this article and let us know if this is what you are looking to do. Choreograph your maps with ArcGIS StoryMaps

Thanks for the links. Some of the examples in that article highlight exactly what I'm talking about ("protecting our pristine seas"). I see a comment on John Nelson's the video that highlights what I'm asking for - there's recently been an enhancement that flies to a new location via an arc. As far as I am aware, the enhancement is only available if you're using an express map. I would like this functionality to be available using a map that I already have created on ArcGIS Online i.e. a smooth pan & zoom rather than flicking right to the area of interest. If I use an express map, all of my layers are removed. I need them to be visible in the map as it pans and zooms around the map.

@SarahRijneke -

> I would like this functionality to be available using a map that I already have created on ArcGIS Online

Map choreography with smooth transitions between locations is available for ArcGIS Online web maps. You can see many examples of this in this gallery such as Infrastructure is everywhere or Bog Wild.

> If I use an express map, all of my layers are removed. I need them to be visible in the map as it pans and zooms around the map.

To use the same express map across multiple slides, simply duplicate the slide with the express map and then edit the duplicate slide to reconfigure its view.
