Although his is absolutely possible in Arc it does sound like more of a "Remote Sensing" application which tends to be more intuitive using software such as ERDAS and others.

I am working on a watershed assessment and am trying to use the maximum likelihood classification within the Spatial Analyst toolbar for ArcGIS 9.3.1 to map the impervious surface areas in a particular watershed. I am having trouble creating signature files on arc and continue to get syntax errors when i run the create signatures tool. I have created a new polygon shapefile and outlined training samples and Im not sure what i'm doing wrong. If anyone has any information on Impervious Surface Mapping using Arc 9.3.1 it would help me greatly. Also, if anyone thinks that an accurate assessment isn't possible with arc then please let me know so I can put in a request for Erdas Imagine. I just want to wait a little longer to see if I can get it to work accuratly with Arc first. Please help....
