Do I need to convert my numeric field to a string field?

Thank you advance for your time and help.

Debra

solution

My polygon shapefile had more than 32,000 planning units I made sure the attribute field that I wanted to use was defined as a "Long Integer" and it worked. The attribute that I wanted to use for my zonal statistics was an option in the GUI.
