Min/Max in raster calculator?

Is there a function in the raster calculator for ArcGISv10 to obtain the min or max of a specific raster file (minimum/maximum of an entire and single raster)? I did not fine the MIN() or MAX() in the tools? I tried to do the following simple equation and it does not work...

Part of the equation I am trying to implement is as follows:
Min("%28mar2009_01.img%") * 255

In the end this is what I am trying to implement a scaling as describe in this article.

in future specify your ArcGIS version (ie 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 or 10).
this will facilitate appropriate answers to questions since some functionality is added with upgraded versions
