Hi,

I'm trying to perform a TopoToRaster interpolation of bathymetric data that falls within a given boundary defined by the stream. I added the point shapefile and specified the Type as "Point Elevation" and the Field of interest. I then added the boundary polygon shapefile and specified the type as "Boundary". Output cell size was set to 30 m and the output extent was set to the same file as the boundary polygon shapefile. The primary type of input data was set to "Spot". Everything else was left as a default value. When I run this interpolation, ArcMap always crashes. No error message is given. Anyone have an idea of what is going on?

Thanks

Hey, thanks again Steve. I figure I'll just have to split up the dataset into different parts, perform the interpolation individually, and mosaic them together. Ultimately, I'm trying to replicate a process performed by another ArcMap analyst who did just that.

I do still have a few questions about Topo to Raster that I can't quite figure out though. The boundary I'm using is a polygon shapefile that exactly matches the extent on the lower reach of the river (It's the first boundary of three that I created from the original polygon). What is the difference between using the input boundary parameter and the output extent? My understanding is that the output extent encompasses all the data such that it will interpolate the upstream edge properly even though the boundary cuts off the raster output at that edge. Also, my input feature shapefile is point elevation data. Is there any difference between using this as an input or by making a contour shapefile from the point elevations and using that as the input for the Topo to Raster calculation?

Drew
