Geometrical interval

I have a floating raster which I want to reclassify into 5 classes, following this procedure:

1) original values are ranked using the dense ranking method

2) then these new values are grouped in equal interval classes, each one containing the same number of different rank numbers.

We noticed that the same result can be achieved reclassifying the original values using the geometical interval method.

(Our purpose is to obtain 5 classes with the same number of original values).

But it happens that reclassifying using the geometrical interval, one of the five classes doesn't contain any value.

Does someone know the reason?

Is it possible to have the algorithm of the geometrical interval method?
