Kernel Density Analysis

Hello,

I am trying to run a Kernel Density Analysis but get back the following two errors:

ERROR 010244: Could not set the analysis window.
ERROR 010067: Error in Executing grid expression.

While it shouldn't make any difference, I am running the process in model builder with specific environments defined
- Cartographic coordinate system: Canada_Lambert_Conformal_Conic
- Pre-specified raster cell size: 100
- Mask: province

The input feature is a points shapefile with a field containing a constant population value (i.e., the layer is a subset of a larger one), however I have set the Population field to NONE since it does not appear to recognize this field.

The output raster contains no spaces in the naming and is less than 13 characters in length.

The output cell size is the default set through the environment (i.e., 100).

Since I considered creating a density map at 1 km squared, I set the search radius to 1000.

Any advice on resolving this issue would be most appreciated.

It has occurred to me that possibly the reason for these errors is that the shapefile on which the analysis is being based has a geographic coordinate system (NAD 27) but is not projected such as to Canada_Lambert_Conformal_Conic. This would imply that I was trying to apply a distance where the units were incompatible (degrees vs. metres).

My theory is to first project the data and then hopefully run the analysis successfully.

Would anyone know off the top of their head the appropriate geographic transformation I should be using, bearing in mind I am solely concerned with the Province of Manitoba? The options are as follows:
- NAD_1927_To_NAD_1983_6
- NAD_1927_To_NAD_1983_Alaska
- NAD_1927_To_NAD_1983_NADCON
- NAD_1927_To_NAD_1983_NTv2_Canada
- NAD_1927_To_NAD_1983_PR_VI

Hi,

I've got a similar problem. I am trying to run Kernel density in a model builder, but the following message keeps coming up:
"grid expression. Failed to execute (FHHChldKernelDensity)"

Tutorial 11-6, Book 1, ArcGis 10 (p.382)

Feature layer Coordinate System: NAD_1983_StatePlane_Pennsylvania_South_FIPS_3702_Feet
