topic Liquid spreading - DEM in ArcGIS Spatial Analyst Questions

Here is what I am trying to do; I think might be possible with map algebra hopefully. I need to do this with out of the box tools. I have a block of liquid sitting on top one cell on an elevation DEM. I would like to find out which cells will be affected when it spreads. Every cell will retain some water. Let???s say 5 cm. And also would like to distribute this liquid by weighting the elevation difference to each cell. In other words, a neighboring cell that is much lower in elevation than other cells should get more liquid. And process should continue till all liquid is retained by cells that it spreads to. Thanks in Advance.
Kagan

Bill, thanks for replying, the very last post on that thread is mine 🙂 but haven??t heard back from him. I don??t think flow accumulation will work for my algorithm.

Kagan
