Hi there,

I used zonal statistics as table to obtain the mean slope gradient found within a polygon. The slope raster is 30 m but the polygon zone is 100 m in width. I was wondering if anyone knew how the zonal statistics accounts for areas outside a cell. Does it only include cells completely contained in the polygon area or does it include the neighbouring cells that contain the access polygon area.

For example, if the polygon was 100 m wide and 100 m long and the cell size is 30 m (2 x 2 cells fully contained in polygon). Would it average the 4 cells contained in the polygon or would it include its neighbours?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for your help!

C.
