Hi,

I'm a novice user of Arc and am struggling to find a solution to my problem. I have a file of x, y co-ords of different species in Great Britain. What I want to do is overlay a grid on top of this data and join it with data points (which i did using the update for Hawths tools, GME and 'genvecgrid' see attached thumbnail) and for each square, find the predominating species. This is where i'm stuck. I think I could use Block Statistics for this analysis but i'm not sure what I need to do to my current file to get it working. Currently it's a shp file.

I'd really appreciate any help with this. I'm assuming my difficulty is due to my novice status and not the difficulty of the problem 🙂

Cat

Cat,
Why not code each species with a number and use the Focal Statistics, Majority tool (Spatial Analyst Tools > Neighborhood)? This will produce a GRID where the value corresponds to the value that occurs most often within your specified neighborhood.

Greg
