Hm, may I ask you a silly question - did you install Data Interoperability extension? Just thinking if you could miss it when installing the ArcGIS.

I am not sure how it works for the evaluation media - Stuart might help you here, but for "normal" system installation, at the ArcGIS 10 release, the ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension is a separate setup. This is available at your disposal on the ArcGIS Desktop media. I guess users who are licensed must still install the extension from its own setup.

Renny,

You should not have to enable the Data Interoperability extension to be able to apply its SP2 to it. Do you have FME, or anything else other than the ArcGIS Data Interoperability Extension using SAFE components. You look to have Autodesk products installed--they make use of SAFE Software modules, could be conflicts there. It is possible, you may need to uninstall one or the other sets. But if you are going to keep the Data Interoperability extension you do need to install SP2. Not stricly necessary, but I install its SP2 before installing Desktop SP3.

Also, ESRI service packs are cumulative. So after your base install--you only need SP3, and any additional patches after it. The 3rd party extensions get their patching from their vendors and are handled in parallel to Desktop--ESRI bundles Data Interoperability with Desktop but it is maintained by SAFE Software.

for Alex--No, Data Interoperability is not installed by default with the base ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 install done for Education users. In fact the same DVD media image is used for ALL Desktop 10.0 installation (download or DVD) and installation is done from the ESRI.exe installer panel as for the rest of us. Just the activation steps differ for the Education, ESRI Press and 60-day trial authorization numbers--the extensions are activated as a bundle. I knew Renny had installed it looking at the ArcGIS Administrator screen.

Stuart
