Contour lines not drawing

Hello, I am trying to create a contour shapefile from a mosaicked DEM using ArcGIS 10. When I use the Contour tool in Spatial Analyst, it creates a new layer but it does not draw. When I Zoom To Layer it zooms out to 1:120,000,000 and still nothing is drawn. Not sure what the problem is, if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Try the following;
- CopyRaster( mosaic raster to raster (.img or fGDB or grid))
- Contour the above raster

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. I used the Copy Raster tool to create a new raster using the .img file extension, but the contour lines still would not draw. I also tried the .asc and .gdb file extensions, but received an error saying that they were "Invalid for the output raster format". I also tried to Copy Raster using .tif, but again it would not draw. I've scoured the forums and can not find any info on this, any other suggestions?

So I figured out that I just needed to reproject the DEM into the same coordinate system as the data frame, then the contour lines draw fine. Hope that helps anyone else with the same problem...
