Error Installing iPhone SDK Public Beta

I tried doing the installation of the public beta and it failed with a message like ??????the installer encountered problems, contact manufacturer?????? I had a previous version of the SDK installed. How do I uninstall the previous version of the SDK?

Sorry to hear you're having problems installing the beta. Having the previous version installed shouldn't pose any problems, the new install should overwrite the files.

However, it'll be great if you could uninstall the previous version and let us know if that was causing the problem. The uninstall script is located at ~/Library/Application Support/AGSiPhoneSDK

Just ran the script, re-ran the install and it still gives the same error

Just tried re-installing the Initial Beta and it works perfectly! Something must be up with the new Public Beta install.

Re-downloaded the installer and it works. It's possible the original download was corrupted by my browser(IE 8). Thanks guys for working with me on this.

/var/log/install.log is the place to look for installation errors. It's how I figured out that the March 20, 2010 beta release didn't like the existence of my MapViewDemo sample files. I moved them and the installer worked.

The log message will look similar to:
