Saw this question in LinkedIn as well.

Thought it very strange.

Google = viewing imagery, map directions, street viewing, maybe something I haven't thought of..

esri or ArcGIS, a fully fledged GIS, mapping, analysis, data management etc etc

I'll take the bait.... I work in a 9-1-1 dispatch center where I use ArcGIS maintained data and published geocoding locators to verify addresses 24/7/365. I've had a couple dispatchers ask: 'How come Google Maps doesn't show what you have? Don't they update their data?"

In my new workplace, my boss' boss says that it's (ArcGIS) is pretty much Google maps. My goal on GIS day is to do a strong compare/contrast. I've only been in the job for a few weeks so I don't have a great deal of data, maps, and apps at my disposal to do so, but I would love to see a story map with this comparison. Anybody know of one?
