Fetching User data by Username

Hello,

I am trying to retrieve user email's by their username using this endpoint:

/community/users/[userName]
[userName]: User | ArcGIS REST APIs | Esri Developer

However, an empty json object is always returned. The developer credentials were created by an administrator, as per docs: "This resource is only accessible to the user themselves or to an organization administrator." So I am not sure if it is a permissions issue or not.

I am able to search users by email just fine & use other endpoints, but this is the only endpoint that I can tell that returns the actual user's email address and it does not seem to be working for me.

What am I missing here? Is there a setting in the dev. credentials that also needs to be added? I am not an org. admin so I can't see the permissions that are set. Any guidance is appreciated
