Attribute types on Query/Identify are different

I've noticed a difference in the way the REST api returns attributes for the Query and Identify operations.

With Query, the attributes are returned as the correct data types as seen in the map service (i.e. integers, doubles, strings, etc.); however, the Identify attributes are all strings.

Am I missing something here? Is this by design or maybe a little buggy?

Jeff,

This behavior of identify is by design. You will also notice that it returns field alias instead of field names. We are looking into this to see if we can change this behavior in a future release to provide additional options that will return actual field names or field values.
