AGOL - visualization filter applied in view definition is not honored via rest call

I have defined a virtualization filter on a layer and it fails to filter when called via the rest interface.

Basically what I am seeing is that the filter on the view layer is honored in AGOL interface, but the filter is not honored in the rest call.

For example in the video below I created a filter where source = “MT” on all vessels this reduces the records from 101K to 73K in AGOL, but the full 101K are returned via rest interface.
