Converting symbology

Hello,
is it possible to convert symbology from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro? I have a map project in which I have all possible feature classes and I have the ideal symbology set, but when I run it in ArcGIS Pro, it is converted normally, but it is no longer possible to work with it or edit it in any way. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this so that the layer is editable?

David, I dont know a lot about importing an mxd but that doesnt sound right. Symbology/Layer properties should be editable AFAIK. I did a quick scan of the online help and there was no mention of "Read Only".
