Hi!

My organisation (public sector) wants to distribute ArcGIS Pro add-ins and their source code that this organisation has made under MIT license (a permissive free software license) in public git repository, so that end-users can freely download code. Is this ok thing to do considering Esri agreements?

One of this add-ins uses Estonian official address data search service to find and show on map in ArcGIS Pro desktop correct / official addresses (only for Estonia), is this something that might compete with Esri Offerings as mentioned in this post: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-sdk-questions/arcgis-pro-addin-licensing/td-p/1037024

Thanks!

Hello, yes, you are free to distribute your own Pro add-ins and code. I’m not sure about the MIT license, that would be up to you to determine which license is appropriate for your needs. Regarding distribution, you can also consider creating an add-in listing on ArcGIS Online, and information on creating a listing is found here.

Regarding the search service, an add-in which utilizes a third-party address search service and displays results in Pro would not be an issue. The licensed copy of Pro is all that is required. Esri and Esri Partners have similar offerings for geocoding and address search, and you are free to build your own tools.

Just FYI, some further considerations here on the Esri Partner Program.
