I have the same question. I don't always want the output file names to be exactly the same as the batch input files. Maybe I would like the output file names to be only the first n characters of the %Name% value, or maybe I would like to remove some specific characters from the %Name% value. I would love to find a way to do this!

Hello,

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to write a post like this in this community, but I wanted to write a few words and ask for your advice.

I am a student in Korea who uses ArcPro. I want to use various input values using Batch to use the tool. When I specify the output file name as %name%, I want to bring only a part of the input value.

I tried to find a solution to this issue when using the model builder in ArcMap or QGIS, but I have no idea. However, I recently started using ArcPro, and the output file name is automatically set to %name%. Therefore, I thought it was a problem that I must solve. That's why I'm writing this post.

In the past, when using %name% according to the work order, the final result was processed as 5_4_3_2_1_%name%.shp. This makes the file name too long and confusing for me. Do you have any suggestions or tips on how to solve this issue?

Also, although my English is not good, I am looking for a community where I can get advice on various GIS-related research. Do you have any recommendations?

I want to try adding various tools and learn about other people's analyses and have conversations. In Korea, it seems that related sites are lacking.

After searching through chatGPT, it is said that this can be solved with parse path. Is this only possible when using the model builder?
