A good option would be Microsoft SQL Server Express or Microsoft SQL Server Local DB. Both support standard T-SQL and one or more databases (on Express) with no licensing costs. It has some limitations, such as a maximum database size of 10 GB and support for only 1 GB of memory and 1 physical processor. Use Microsoft SQL Server Manager to manage your database.

Links: Download Microsoft® SQL Server® 2022 Express from Official Microsoft Download Center

Hi all,

We currently have 10 vehicles equipped with TomTom devices which we can track via WebFleet.

We have developed a software that can download this data from WebFleet and store it locally in a Microsoft access database, to which i have connected to ArcGis Pro and created an event layer to create a semi-live layer.

This system seems outdated now and as ArcGis Pro does not connect to access database as well as ArcMap desktop did so im looking for alternate solutions to this.

If anyone has any advice or has experience in this sort of thing i would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

Hey @LeeWhelan

If you have something writing to a database, you can definitely redirect the output, the main problem is that it is originating from the Access Database, which is already associated with many limitations. You may have better luck using a PostgreSQL database, or if your company has a Microsoft SQL Server, then it would be better. If you are able to interact with the code from the WebFleet software connector, then you may be able to direct the output directly to a hosted feature layer, or enterprise geodatabase connected Feature Service on Enterprise if that is an option, personally, I do the enterprise geodatabase option and ours has worked decently well so far!

Cody

I'm not sure if the field techs are also using Field Maps, but that could be another way to track them without using TomToms.
