Digitizing hatched polygons from scanned maps using Deep Learning in ArcGIS Pro?

Hi All,

I need to digitize swamp areas, shown as a horizontal hatch pattern, from a large batch of old black and white topo maps (see example below). Doing this manually would take forever.

I'm considering using the Deep Learning tools in ArcGIS Pro, but I'm not sure how well it can extract features based on a hatch pattern rather than a solid shape.

Has anyone successfully used deep learning for this? I'd appreciate any tips on the workflow. I'm also open to any simpler, non-DL methods in ArcGIS or QGIS that might work well for this specific task.
