Cannot de-select "headings" in Legend Items

Hey there everyone,

I am having some trouble figuring out how to turn off headings as I edit my legend. For some reason the box is greyed out (see screenshot). I followed a tutorial to create this map and up until this point I was able to match it step-for-step. When it came time to deselect "headings" I did not have that option. I started over from scratch and ran into the same problem. In the tutorial I am watching the headings box is not greyed out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For posterity's sake, Headings tends to be only available to be changed on an individual legend item basis, rather than globally across the entire legend.
