Very new to ArcGIS Pro. I am working on an assignment for class.

The data I am working on elev30 raster data from San Diego. When I select elev30 and try to Classify in Raster Layer - Symbology, I select Classify under the Primary symbology pull down menu, but this warning message appears "Failed to display the raster layer as Classify", and I can't make any changes to the Field, Normalization, Method, Classes or Color scheme.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Nick

Hello @NicholasLabedzki First and foremost, I suggest you try the following directions, as I believe they will be effective( 1.Remove the raster from the map
2.Right-click on the raster in the Catalog window 3.Select Calculate Statistics 4.Re-add the raster to map; will it let you classify the raster now). If these directions do not resolve the issue, please confirm your license version through this link https://support.esri.com/en-us/bug/when-setting-the-symbology-to-classify-for-a-raster-wit-bug-000157694 and provide an explanation of the bug you are encountering. Additionally, if the aforementioned information does not assist you, you may also check this link https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/environment-settings/an-overview-of-raster-storage-settings.htm for further assistance.

Best Regards

Nektarios

Another thing to try is go into Project > Options > Raster and Imagery > Raster Dataset > Maximum number of unique values to display > 100,000,000. Does the raster draw?

This method worked out. I've also added a suggestion on our lab exercise. I actually did the update to 3.3.1 yesterday, but that didn't do anything, Your steps worked out perfectly.

I have ArcGIS Pro 3.3.1 and performing Calculate Statistics from the Catalog View ( @Georgios-NektariosTselos ) did not resolve the issue. After some experimenting with the tool Environment setting Parallel Processing, I found when I set it to 1 the tool worked fine, set higher it never completed. Geoprocessing tools, for which Calculate Statistics is an Environment option, are not impacted by this bug from my experience.
But even with Statistics calculated for continuous rasters, I still had to set the Maximum number of unique values to display up to 100,000,000 as suggested by @Robert_LeClair, which for some rasters takes quite a while. I don't recall having to wait on unique values to Classify symbology of continuous rasters in the past.

upping the Maximum number of unique values(all the way to 100 million!) worked for me. i originally stopped at 10 million thinking that was already ridiculous and still receiving the error. but 100 million worked for me..
