topic Digitizing/Editing from Esri Basemap coordinate system question in ArcGIS Pro Questions

Hello,

If my project is using the State Plane coordinate system and I plan to digitize new features in that same coordinate system, I can also re-project the current Map to that coordinate system as a best practice in order to maintain data integrity with respect to possible alignment issues, etc.

However, if I plan to use an Esri Basemap as my "reference" for digitizing, those layers seem to be stuck in the default WGS 84 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) coordinate system. ...Is this an issue since it would be projecting on-the-fly? ...Or, is there a better solution?

Thanks,
CCE
