topic Symbology Implementation in ArcGIS Pro Questions

Hi all,

I'm building a habitat survey map for use with Field Maps, and having trouble getting symbology to work properly in a feature layer. I'm creating the feature layer in Pro before saving it as a web layer because it requires a related table for recording condition assessments.

I've got a UKHabs symbology .lyr file containing over 100 unique habitat styles which I am importing with the 'copy symbology from layer' geoprocessing tool. This seems to work fine, but when I upload the layer and view it in field maps I am required to scroll through a pop-up menu and choose from the 100+ possible habitat types before I can begin drawing the polygon. Obviously, this is not particularly user-friendly.

On previous projects I have been able to select the habitats layer from the 'add feature' menu in field maps, then draw a blank polygon before selecting the correct habitat type from a combo box widget in the form, which could be filtered by typing and was therefore far more user-friendly. The symbology updated when the new feature was submitted to match the habitat type if it was in the list, and retained the default symbol if it wasn't. How can I implement this behaviour?

I'm probably missing something very obvious, but I have been stuck on this for a couple of days and would greatly appreciate any help!
