topic spatial join invalidates a 1:m relate in ArcGIS Pro Questions

I have a hosted service with two tables, that I can relate (manually) in Pro. However, if i add a spatial join to my feature class, the 1:m relate to the tables won't work. Is this expected behavior?

edit: wanted to add that the 1:m relate is only 'broken' in the FC->table direction. The table -> FC direction seems to work as before the spatial join was added.
