I was wondering/hoping someone would be able to give me a hand and push me in the right direction.

I have a .dat file that I imported from ENVI to Arcgis and multiple .shp files of smaller regions within the area that the .dat file covers. I can't seem to figure out how to have only the area of the .dat file shown be that of the .shp files.

I tried select by attributes and select by location to no avail. I get an error 999999 when I try select by location (.dat file went into input and the .shp into selecting features). I'm not sure where I'm going wrong here.

Basically, I have a heat map of a city and want to only see specific neighborhoods. I tried to cut them out in ENVI and port them over to Arcgis that way, but the mean and data gets a bit skewed improperly if it doesn't have the full dataset to work off.
