topic Align Features Failing Catastrophically in ArcGIS Pro Questions

I have a set of wetlands (pink, below) that are within the features shown in purple (which is a survey corridor). I ran align features to get rid of gaps where the wetland don't quite react the edge of the survey corridor. I tried several times. I ran a repair geometry on the wetlands, used one foot tolerance for Align Features, and below is what happened. Is this normally a reliable tool? Is there a known cause for this? I don't understand how the shapes can be reshaped so completely with a one foot tolerance. They are reshaped by dozens of miles. (Fortunately, I was working with copies of the data).

Thank you,

Randy McGregor
