I did discover something that seemed to be related. I had the problem in a project where I had ESRI Optimised symbology loaded. I had also added it to my Project Style Favourites so it was on every new project I opened. When I removed it from my favourites for new projects, and opened a new project, the colour ramp was back to normal. Let me know if that helps you.

It has a diagonal alignment with the greys crossing through the middle.

I have searched through settings and Catalog Style Management and the only options are sorting by Name, Type, Category or Key. None of which change it back to the standard format.

My colleague has upgraded at the exact same time to the same version and his sows the normal format/order.

Please help as this makes map making a lot more difficult.

I had / have the same issue, and don't think I have any ESRI Optimised symbology, have you found a solution? I contacted ESRI Support but they weren't able to recreate the issue.

I resolved the issue with the color picker sort order in my project by following these steps:

View tab, then Catalog View.

In the left-hand pane, pick Styles folder.

I reviewed each custom style I had created until I found one that had a Style Class of Color.

Once identified, I right-clicked that custom style and selected Remove from Project. After removing my custom style, the ArcGIS Colors style displayed correctly and in the proper sort order.
