Relationship classes greyed out and unable to select

Hello, I have a feature layer and two standalone tables. I want to create a relationship class between the feature layer and both tables using the common field 'pond_id'. I have all 3 datasets added to my map from the GDB.

However, the option to add relationship class is greyed out:

I am not sure how to get around this. There are other similar questions to this which have been answered in this forum but none have provided a solution for me.

If you're working with an enterprise GDB, you could have a schema lock preventing the change.

Is there a way i can check that? I've downloaded the data as individual shapefiles/CSVs from an AGOL group which houses our data that is collected in the field.

If you're using shapefiles this is probably not the issue, but here is some documentation (you'll use Catalog):

Turns out a relate starting with the table and connecting to the layer does what i need it to do so marking this as resolved
