Are licenses pro-rated?

I'm self-employed (no employees) using ArcGIS Pro 3.1 here and there for landscaping projects. I only need a Basic level license, which I can barely afford honestly. A client sent me a huge list of KMZ files that I have to import, but batch import is only included with a Standard level license, which costs 4 times as much as a basic license and more than the profit of the entire job.

If I upgrade to the standard license to do the batch import and then switch back to the Basic license, will my license cost be prorated? Or will I have to pay for a full year of the standard license even if I only used it for a few days? Anyone know?

I understand this is more of a customer service question and not a community question, but I thought I'd check with the real experts first. Thanks!

Not an answer to the question as asked, but you may wish to consider expanding your toolkit...

Look at open-source options such as GDAL/OGR for commandline data conversion or QGIS for a full GIS suite. Converting a bunch of KMZs to something ArcGIS can consume is pretty trivial.

Can you try this:

Go to Tools
Search for 'KML to Layer' but don't select it from the results
Right-click it and select 'Batch'
Follow the prompts to select your KML files.
The output name will create the results with the %Name% being the input name of the KML files

I don't think you need a standard licence for this workflow

With regard to your question, no ArcGIS Pro licenses are not prorated to my knowledge. Once you purchase a standard license, it's for the time period purchased or renewal period.

It's possible that you were looking at the Batch Import Data GP tool that is not available with a Basic license. Most system GP tools including the KML to Layer can be batched using the process as explained by magisian above. Tools with a built in iterator such as from a Model can't be batched as I recall. The KML to Layer tool has limitations when using a Basic license as explained in its Help.
