Interactive Elevation Profile

Is there a way to ensure that an Elevation Profile, when inserted into a layout, would interact with the line the Profile is representing? For instance, if I were to click or tap on either the Profile or the line, the line or Profile might light up at that respective point?

An image can be included as an element on a layout or report.

no mention of it remaining interactive on a layout

I don't believe the elevation profile remains interactive in a map layout. Can be exported as an image as Dan mentioned but then becomes static.
