topic Move item in filesystem in Catalog but keep layer in Contents in ArcGIS Pro Questions

An item, e.g. a shapefile, is listed in Catalog and loaded as a layer in Contents. I move this item in the filesystem, e.g. to a newly created subfolder. The corresponding layer in Contents disappears by this process. I'd like to move an item in the filesystem in Catalog and simultaneously keep its corresponding layer in Contents. This would imply an automatic adaption of the layer's source path to the new location of the item. Is this feasible?

Hello @Brian_Steiner,

This automatic refresh of the source path when changes are made using Catalog is not implemented on 3.0.3, nor will be on 3.1 (I guess...). But you could ask for it on Arcgis Pro Ideas.

There is a similar post asking for advanced data source management (pretty old, and some of the features there stated are now possible using arcpy).

Regards,
